Description
Located in Portugal's northern Alentejo region, Herdade Monte da Cal covers 100 hectares of vineyards in the municipality of Fronteira, parish of São Saturnino, around 40 km from Portalegre. Founded in 2007 by the Global Wines group, the estate is dedicated to producing quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. The architecture of the estate, influenced by the Arabic style, bears witness to the cultural heritage of the Alentejo.
In Roman mythology, Saturn was the god of abundance, wealth, renewal, agriculture and vines. Monte de Cal's top-of-the-range wines, which reflect the best that agriculture and vineyards have to offer each year, are a tribute to Saturn.

To the eye: Intense, limpid garnet-red.
On the nose: Complex aromas of ripe red fruit, with hints of jam, coffee and dark chocolate.
On the palate: A full, dense wine with good tannic structure, harmonious and persistent.
Food pairing: Goes well with Mediterranean, Chinese, Indian and African dishes.
