Description

Located in the heart of the prestigious Pessac-Léognan wine region, Château Le Thil is a true treasure trove of the art of winemaking. With a long history and know-how passed down from generation to generation, this estate embodies excellence and passion for wine.

In the summer of 2012, Château Smith Haut Lafitte acquired the adjacent 11.6 hectares (3 hectares for white wines and 8.6 hectares for red wines) of its neighbour, Château Le Thil Comte Clary.

The wines of Château Le Thil, which have proven their excellence over the years, now benefit from the same expertise and passion with which Florence, Daniel Cathiard and the entire team of Château Smith Haut Lafitte produce their Grand Cru Classé and the wines of Château Cantelys according to a unique working philosophy: organic précision.

Tasting

Château Le Thil 2015 is a red wine of great elegance that perfectly reflects the exceptional terroir of Pessac-Léognan. On tasting, it has a deep, intense red colour.

The nose reveals subtle aromas of ripe red fruit, such as cherry and raspberry, accompanied by a delicate touch of spice and wood from the oak ageing.

On the palate, the wine is rich and velvety, with well-integrated tannins. Red fruit flavours mingle harmoniously with notes of vanilla and cocoa, providing additional complexity and depth.

The finish is long and persistent, leaving a pleasant sensation of freshness and finesse in the mouth.

The 2015 Château Le Thil is a remarkable wine that combines power and elegance. It can be enjoyed now, but also has promising ageing potential, allowing the aromas and flavours to develop further over time.

It is an ideal choice to accompany fine meat dishes, such as grilled lamb chops or beef tenderloin with sautéed mushrooms.
