Description
Founded by Alcide Monmousseau in 1886, in the heart of the Cher valley in Montrichard, the Monmousseau House has a wealth of legitimate know-how, including a perfect mastery of the art of blending.
At the end of the 19th century, he discovered one of the most important tufa quarries in the region, which turned out to be the ideal place for him and his nephew Justin-Marcel Monmousseau to make wines according to the Traditional Method.
It is indeed the latter who, at the beginning of the 1900s, initiated the Maison Monmousseau to the practice of this method. Maison Monmousseau specialises in the production of fine bubbly wines from the Loire, and in particular from Touraine.
The variety of soils and grape varieties, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet franc or Cot (Malbec), gives Monmousseau wines a beautiful diversity and a specific character. The wines are very expressive, lively and fresh, resulting from the desire to work only with small blends.
Tasting
Colour: Pale yellow. Fine, delicate bubbles.
Nose: Broad aromatic palette. The bouquet is fruity with notes of yellow fleshy fruits but also of redcurrant and toast.
Palate: Ample with great freshness. Nice balance between the fruit of the Chardonnay and the Cabernet Franc, with a lemony finish due to the Chenin Blanc.
Food and wine pairing : On its own as an aperitif or with oysters or seafood. It will also go very well with fresh goat's cheese or a Saint Maure de Touraine. At the end of the meal, with a lemon meringue pie.
