El Viejo 2021

Toro was a major discovery on their vineyard-hunting trips in 2005. They found ancient vineyards with ideal sandy soils and a favourable continental climate. The Toro winemakers are particularly attached to their land, embodying the spirit of the wines of Bodega Matsu, whose Japanese name means ‘to wait’. With their El Pícaro, El Recio and El Viejo wines, they seek to marry the traditional power of Toro vineyards with the freshness and elegance of their creations.

Eye: Deep cherry-red colour, intense depth, with hints of violet on the rim.

Nose: Extremely complex, of medium intensity but very rich in nuances. This is an elegant condensation of ripe black fruit aromas, accompanied by creamier, sweeter barrel nuances and spicy notes on the finish.

Palate: Very pleasant, with a full, voluptuous finish. It is also very complex, reflecting excellent ripening and low-yield grapes from old vineyards.
