Description
Maurice Drouhin was for many years the Administrator of the Hospices de Beaune, then Vice-President of the Administrative Commission of the institution from 1941 to 1955. In parallel, he directed the Joseph Drouhin company of wine-merchants and growers.
His generous donation of high quality vineyards constitutes one of the largest areas of Beaune Premier Cru at the Domaine des Hospices.
It covers 2.69 hectares, 40% being found in Les Avaux, 25% Les Champs Pimont, 25% Les Boucherottes and the rest in Les Grèves.
Tasting
‘The nose is complex and fine, with intense notes of red berries and a hint of spice. The whole is harmonious. The attack on the palate is frank, also with fruity notes. The mid-palate is fairly rich, with a fine tannic structure. The wood ageing is very elegant. A great, generous wine, representative of the diversity of the Burgundy capital's vineyards’.
