Description

Château Malmaison, located in the appellation Moulis-en-Médoc, is one of the old areas of the Médoc. From the Middle Ages, the vineyard was established there by a few owners and a large religious community. This property adjoining Château Clarke was acquired in 1973 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild with the idea of recreating a large estate.

Under the impulse du Baron, the vineyard was restructured and the buildings completely renovated. He then named this wine in honor of his wife, the elegant Baroness Nadine de Rothschild, passionate about the art of gardens. The Malmaison vines today extend over 33ha of clay-limestone soil. This terroir favors the expression of Merlot, which largely dominates the grape variety.

Tasting

To the eye : deep purple colour

Nose : The nose is open and intense, dominated by fresh fruit aromas (blackcurrant, plum), slightly mentholated and accompanied by delicate woody notes

Palate: The attack is fat and fleshy and gives way to an elegant palate, where the balance is quickly found between a structure built on precise and velvety tannins and an acidity that brings freshness and length.

Food & wine pairing : Château Malmaison goes perfectly with grilled meat or meat in sauce (leg of lamb with rosemary) or a variety of cheeses.

Degree: 13.5%°
