Description
Château Clarke is named after the Irish family who bought this vast estate in 1771. After more than two centuries of winemaking tradition and successive inheritances, the property was acquired by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1973. A wine enthusiast like his illustrious family, Edmond de Rothschild dreamed of owning an intimate, discreet vineyard that he would make his masterpiece. With a passion for the art of living and excellence, he made Château Clarke the icon of its appellation. The proximity of the Atlantic Ocean gives the terroir a freshness that is reflected in the aromatic brilliance of the wine. The terroir is very favourable to the cultivation of the Merlot grape variety, in a region more traditionally known for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon. Château Clarke thus possesses a completely original Medoc character.
Tasting

Palate: Dense, rich and straightforward, quickly revealing silky, delicate tannins. It has a lovely freshness and a long, savoury, sweet finish.
Food and wine pairing: This is clearly a gourmet wine that goes deliciously with beef.
