75clGrape Variety
- Gamay
Description
When Caesar and the Romans arrived in Geneva in 58 BC, vines were already being grown.
The importance of this vineyard is confirmed by the laws of King Gondebaud in the 5th century, which punished grape thieves with death!
The oldest document in the archives of the State of Geneva relates to the donation by Countess Eldegarde of her Peissy vineyards to the Church in 912 (Peissy, the small village where the Leyvraz family is located today.) This piece of land, where Mr Leyvraz's grandfather, Mr Albert Desbaillet, founded the Bossons estate in 1905, was already the grandson of a winegrower.
Today, the Bossons estate is in its 4th generation with Mrs Laure Leyvraz, daughter of Mr Eric Leyvraz. The estate grows 18 different grape varieties.
