Description
Château Sociando-Mallet is located about ten kilometres north of Pauillac, in the Haut-Médoc appellation. A document dating from March 1633 refers to noble lands in this commune, belonging to an aristocrat of Basque origin named Sociondo. There is also a document from 1750, relating to the vines of Demoiselle Anne de Sossiondo. Over the years, "Sociondo" (or "Sossiondo") has become "Sociando" due to a spelling error.
Chateau Sociando-Mallet produces full-bodied wines with a beautiful deep, dark colour. Their bouquet is complex, usually dominated by notes of black fruit, a touch of minerality and a well-integrated fine oakiness. Often a little "virile" in their youth, the wines gain in harmony and complexity with age. They are characterised by their freshness, their straightforwardness and their good length.
Château Sociando-Mallet is traditionally a long-keeping wine whose great vintages can be drunk happily even after 30 years in the cellar.
