Description
The fascinating history of Château d'Aqueria began in 1595, when Louis Joseph d'Aqueria bought this area of Tavel, known as "Puy Sablonneux", from the monks of the Abbey of Villeneuve les Avignon.
This was a favourite terroir for growing vines.
His son, Robert d'Aqueria, hereditary Count Palatine, had a residence built, which became the Château as we know it in the 18th century.
After the Count d'Aqueria, many families took turns owning the Château d'Aqueria, modifying it, erecting buildings, developing the crops, but the estate kept its wine-growing vocation throughout the centuries, so typical of this exceptional terroir.
At Château d'Aqueria, 7 grape varieties are used to make the rosé Tavel :
grenache noir, clairette, syrah, cinsault, mourvèdre, bourboulenc and picpoul.
