Description

Régine Sumeire bought Château Barbeyrolles in 1977. It was love at first sight for this property located at the foot of Gassin, one of the three villages on the Saint-Tropez peninsula. Twelve hectares of vines, a preserved site of magical beauty, painted by many artists, notably Charles Camoin, this dormant vineyard required a great deal of patience and determination. Since 1978, with respect for the environment, work has been carried out to improve the vineyard plantations and erect farm buildings. The first bottles of Château Barbeyrolles were released in April 1982, and in 2004 and 2005 a new gravity-fed cellar was built, including two Coquard Champagne presses: a traditional one and a PAI.

Tasting

With its light salmon-pink pastel colour, it has an intense, sunny, spicy nose, with sweet scents of nectarine, exotic citrus fruit and a hint of aniseed. On the palate, it is silky and juicy, full-bodied and full of fruit, with a fine structure supported by the Mourvèdre. Deep, dense and intense, it will charm you straight away, but will keep for 5 years or more! A salmon tataki with pink peppercorns and butternut squash purée will certainly suit it.
