Qta Vale D.Maria Old White Colheita 1940, Porto 1940

Vale D. Maria has been creating unique wines since it was first bottled in 1996. Their vision of the Douro is that each corner of this region, due to variations in landscape, climate and grape varieties, has its own character. They recognise the value of the terroir at Quinta Vale D. Maria in producing wines with a unique identity. For their Port wines, they consider each bottling to be unique. In keeping with this philosophy, they have sought out some of the last ageing casks from very old harvests in old cellars in the Douro Valley. Over time, they have had the opportunity to acquire a few remaining kites from selected years, which they have carefully preserved as one of their most precious collections. They began unveiling their collection with the Vale D. Maria Old Tawny Colheita Port 1969. And now it's time to continue with something surprising, a rare Aged White Porto, the Vale D. Maria Old White Porto Colheita 1940.

Since 1940, it has been preserved in oak casks, developing complex, elegant flavours and aromas.

Eye: a darker colour, with hints of amber and yellow highlights.

Nose: opulent, with notes of citrus fruit and honey, with hints of dried fruit and caramelisation.

Palate: balanced, with good freshness and harmony. The finish is very long and very pleasant.
