Description
Considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Douro region, nicknamed the "Enchanted Valley", is the first demarcated region in the world. The culture of the vine is lost in the memory of time. Located in the north-east of Portugal, in the Douro river basin, surrounded by valleys that give it special characteristics, the region covers a total area of 250,000 ha, divided into three naturally distinct sub-regions.
Quinta do Portal has its properties and vineyards in the Cima-Corgo sub-region, which is very balanced in terms of climatic changes. The vineyards cover 100 hectares and include the following estates: Quinta do Portal, Quinta do Confradeiro, Quinta dos Muros, Quinta da Abelheira and Quinta das Manuelas. They have particular and distinct characteristics, especially in terms of altitude, sun exposure and different grape varieties, which confer excellence on the raw material for the production of the various wines made.
