Description
The Château Clarke estate is located in the southern Médoc, in the Listrac-Médoc appellation, inland, in the centre of the limestone plateau and away from the Gironde estuary. The property thus enjoys an intimate and protected situation.
The clay-limestone soil of the estate offers remarkable resistance to drought. The proximity of the Atlantic Ocean gives the wine a freshness that is reflected in its aromatic radiance. This terroir is very favourable to the cultivation of the Merlot grape variety, in a region where traditionally the Cabernet Sauvignon is king. Château Clarke thus possesses an original Medoc typicity.
Tasting
Eye : A beautiful purple colour with a purple border.
Nose : Intense and complex, the nose is dominated by fresh fruit flavours (blackcurrant, black cherry) mixed with fine woody notes. When shaken, a minty, fresh side develops, accompanied by a small touch of liquorice.
Mouth : The attack is frank and round. It gives way to a fat, serious palate, with a dense and velvety tannic structure, accompanied by a balanced natural acidity, which gives this wine a beautiful freshness.
It will go remarkably well with grilled meat or meat in sauce such as lamb, poultry or game (partridge and pheasant). More specifically, it will go perfectly with a veal chop with porcini mushrooms from our mountains.
